Brave and honorable samurai Shima Sakon(島 左近? ―1600?), a groundfather of Yagyu Yoshikane(Yagyu Renyasai). He was an able subordinate of Ishida Mitsunari, fought against Tokugawa Ieyasu at battle of Sekigahara. Some historical books tell us Sakon had died at that battle. But…others, he had survived and escaped to the retreat in Kyoto where the Yagyu family waited. And…others?
